Locked Out Late at Night? What to Expect

A calm, step-by-step look at what happens when you call a locksmith late at night.

Midnight. Porch light on, keys inside. Here's what the next hour or so usually looks like.

You call

Keep it short: address, what's locked, any urgency. A child inside or an unsafe spot moves you up the queue. You'll get an approximate estimate before anyone is sent.

You wait

Somewhere lit and safe. If you're in West Whittier or anywhere near our 90606 dispatch area, tell the dispatcher the nearest cross street; house numbers can be hard to read in the dark.

The locksmith arrives

They'll look at the lock and confirm the price before starting. If it can be opened without damage, it will be. If not, they'll explain why first.

You show ID

Once inside, expect to show ID with the address. Wallet locked in? Mail with your name works.

You pay, and you plan

Pay the locksmith directly by card. Then, before bed, decide where a spare key is going to live. Next time it's a two-minute walk.
